BA Global Talent is seeking an On-Site Equipment Engineer for a leading pharmaceutical glass and packaging manufacturer expanding its operations in Atibaia, São Paulo, Brazil.
The Equipment Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment used in pharmaceutical packaging production. This professional will oversee preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, equipment validation, technical documentation, spare parts management, and equipment lifecycle activities while supporting production efficiency and compliance with quality standards.
This position reports directly to the Factory General Manager and will work closely with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams.
English will be a working language, as the selected professional will communicate regularly with the General Manager and international teams.
Following onboarding, the employee will travel to China for approximately one month of company-sponsored training. Training materials, SOPs, technical documentation, and internal communications will be provided in English.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain equipment operating procedures, technical instructions, and engineering documentation.
Manage production equipment throughout its full lifecycle, including installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, overhauls, and retirement.
Lead and promote Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Support equipment selection, installation, acceptance testing, and commissioning activities.
Execute and document equipment qualification activities, including IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols.
Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance plans for production equipment.
Manage spare parts inventory and support equipment availability.
Maintain accurate equipment records, maintenance history, and technical documentation.
Develop and maintain equipment-related SOPs while ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, automation, and reliability.
Support change control, deviation investigations, and equipment validation activities.
Participate in ISO 15378 quality system implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support daily manufacturing operations.
Perform other engineering-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Upper Intermediate (B2) English proficiency required. You should confidently communicate with international colleagues, participate in meetings, understand engineering documents, write clear emails and reports, and deliver technical presentations.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
At least 1 year of experience in equipment engineering, equipment management, industrial maintenance, or mechanical design within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with pharmaceutical, medical device, glass manufacturing, packaging, or other highly regulated industries is preferred.
Experience with vial, ampoule, cartridge, or similar automated production lines is highly desirable.
Knowledge of equipment qualification and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Familiarity with preventive maintenance, TPM, equipment lifecycle management, change control, and deviation management.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, technical documentation, and equipment manuals.
Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Self-motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
