Strategic Events Specialist - DFC (Washington, DC)
BA Global Talent is supporting the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) in the search for a highly organized and detail-oriented Strategic Events Specialist to provide critical support to the Office of External Affairs (OEA) at DFC Headquarters in Washington, DC.
You will support the planning, coordination, and execution of DFC’s strategic events portfolio. This role requires strong project management skills, discretion, and the ability to manage end-to-end event delivery—including concept development, logistics, vendor coordination, and on-site execution—for high-visibility internal and external engagements.
The DFC is financing solutions to the most critical challenges facing the developing world today. Working with businesses, we mobilize private capital to invest in projects that create jobs and opportunities in emerging markets, including building critical infrastructure, expanding access to telecommunications, and providing small business financing for women entrepreneurs.
Responsibilities:
Leading the delivery of in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including ceremonies, roundtables, panels, receptions, press events, and conferences.
Developing event plans, timelines, task trackers, and production schedules to ensure coordinated execution across internal teams and external partners.
Translating communication objectives into effective event formats, audience strategies, and program designs.
Drafting and managing run-of-shows, agendas, invitation lists, RSVP tracking, talking points requests, briefing notes, and staffing plans.
Managing venue selection, room setups, A/V and staging needs, accessibility considerations, transportation, and guest flow.
Coordinating with caterers, printers, and production teams; requesting quotes, tracking deliverables, and monitoring performance.
Supporting budget tracking, reconciling invoices, and coordinating internal clearances for materials, speaker participation, and branded collateral.
Handling outreach coordination, collecting biographies/headshots, and managing day-of speaker readiness and cueing.
Working with communications colleagues to integrate events with media engagement, social content capture, and post-event amplification.
Managing event-related content such as signage, printed materials, name badges, scripts, and photography/videography requests.
Occasional travel may be required within the continental United States based on the event and/or conference needs.
Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must qualify for and maintain a Public Trust clearance or higher and pass a DFC background investigation.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in event planning and execution, preferably supporting executive-level, government, or high-visibility stakeholder events.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Event Management, Hospitality, International Affairs, or a related field.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common event tools (e.g., RSVP management, virtual event platforms).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience drafting professional executive documentation.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events and priorities in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision and tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Strong project management, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
On-site: Washington, DC.
Schedule: 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM, Monday through Friday. This role may require flexibility outside of normal business hours to support events (e.g., early mornings, evenings), including on-site execution and time-sensitive changes.
Only resumes submitted in English will be considered.
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for job opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin.
